Grant House to Receive New Roof

 In The Historic Trust

The Grant House on Officers Row is slated for a new cedar shingle roof, courtesy of Heritage Capital Project (HCP) grant funding in the state budget passed by the legislature this past April. Built in 1849, the Grant House will receive a new cedar shingled roof.  Link to the rest of the article The re-roofing was ranked 9th out of 36 in importance in the projects selected for funding by this year’s statewide, competitive, peer-reviewed grant application process. The project, which will be managed by the City of Vancouver in partnership with the Trust, is an essential part of responsible stewardship for this unique and important historic building which represents the transition of Vancouver Barracks from rustic frontier outpost to established American military presence north of the Columbia River

The City and the Trust are very grateful for the new grant, which will be administered by the Washington State Historical Society, as are the in-progress local HCP grants being used to re-roof two buildings at the west end of Officers Row, and rehabilitate the north galleried porches at Providence Academy.

The Grant House is currently available for rental. Please contact Shelly Knight at shelly.knight@thehistorictrust.org for more information.
