Sacred Heart Plaza at Ed Lynch Square
An exciting next step in the ongoing rehabilitation of Providence Academy begins soon!
The Sacred Heart Plaza at Ed Lynch Square will create new community gathering and event spaces that are infused with heritage and preserve and interpret the historic Sacred Heart Garden designed by Mother Joseph in 1875. Walkways, trees, and plants will seamlessly integrate with a public plaza and more intimate seating areas, and the Sacred Heart Garden will be enhanced and rehabilitated.
Work will take place in stages, beginning in late 2024 and continuing into 2025.
The first stage will involve clearing portions of the site to prepare for construction. On September 9 and 10, 2024, several non-native, dying, and invasive trees on the south side of the building will be removed. This work will be quite noisy, and access to the front of the building will be restricted for safety reasons. Wood harvested from the trees will be donated to Friends of the Carpenter so that it can be reused for the benefit of the community.
We appreciate your patience during this short period of disruption, and look forward to sharing the new, improved plaza and garden with you!
