Often hailed as “The First Lady of Portland Blues,” LaRhonda Steele is a celebrated gospel, blues, and soul singer whose powerful voice and deep-rooted musical heritage have made her a cornerstone of the Pacific Northwest music scene. Born in Spencer, Oklahoma, she began singing in church at age 13 and was directing choirs by 15. Her early exposure to traditional Black gospel music, influenced by her evangelist grandfather and her mother’s gospel quartet, laid the foundation for her lifelong dedication to music.
