Special Saturday: The Legacy of Friendship Quilts
November 19 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
For this months Special Saturday you’re invited to be part of the long legacy of contributing to a friendship quilt. Friendship quilts gained popularity in the 1840s. Made with scraps and inscribed with the names of friends and family, friendship quilts provide a unique view into the history and culture of American women and their communities. For this program, guests are invited to enjoy a 30 minute friendship quilt history talk will happen at 10am and again at 12:30pm in the Academy Chapel. Throughout the day, guests can design and make a quilt square with volunteers from Enchanted Rose Emporium Quilt Shop and Quilts of Valor. All quilts created during this program will be donated to local veterans. For more information about Quilts of Valor visit: https://www.qovf.org/
