B Company, 4th Tank Battalion, a Marine Corps Reserve Company was activated in December of 1990 to serve in Operation Desert Storm after the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq in August of 1990.

The company led the Second Marine Division assault into Kuwait that liberated the country. They were awarded the Navy  Unit Citation for their part in the largest tank versus tank battle in Marine Corps history. This was part of the first large scale call up of the Reserves and National Guard since the Korean War in 1950.
