Military History Talk – George Washington and His Legacy

The Historic Trust is excited to host the Vancouver Barracks Military Association’s 2024 Military History Talk series. Join us for this fascinating discussion with speaker Jeff Dacus and learn more about Washington state’s connection to our nation’s first president.

Why is Washington state called Washington? Learn more on the 292nd birthday of our nation’s first president at a presentation by Jeff Dacus on the attributes and values of George Washington.

Jeff Dacus (U.S. Marine Corps, retired) is a retired history teacher and the award-winning author of several books and numerous articles. He is a frequent public speaker and has been the historian for the annual Northwest Colonial Festival (now Northwest Heritage Festival). (jeffdacus.com). Dacus’ book, Perceptions of Battle, which discusses Washington’s leadership during the Battle of Monmonth, the longest battle of the Revolutionary War, is due out in May, 2024.
