Kick off your summer activities with an historic retrospective on recreation at Vancouver Barracks! Join speaker Jeff Dacus of the Vancouver Barracks Military Association to learn about the forms of recreation enjoyed by soldiers and their families between the founding of the garrison in 1849 and the final base closure in 2011. The fun included polo, baseball, badminton, and golf, with musical and cultural events also part of the mix.

Jeff Dacus, a retired history teacher and retired Marine, is the author of several books and numerous articles on history. He is the historian for the annual Northwest Colonial Festival in Sequim, Washington (jeffdacus.com).
