Throughout its existence, The Historic Trust has been supported by many generous donors who share the vision of a community that gathers to celebrate its past, present and future. This belief has inspired the creation of endowments that support programs and events in perpetuity. These endowments strengthen the organization, and add flexibility for growth. Endowments are critical to the ongoing success and longevity of the organization.
We ask you to consider one of the following funds, adding your support to a specific area in our portfolio:
Aviation Education Programs Fund
The Fund assists in raising support for the aviation education programs of the Trust. The uses of the fund include, but are not limited to, program operations, volunteer projects, field schools, educational camps, educational institution transportation costs, immersion programs, adult lectures and other educational programming . The goal of the Fund is to strengthen and support the aviation educational programs offered by the Trust.
Celebrate Freedom Fund
Created in 2000 this fund established an endowment to provide support for the Trust’s community events and activities perpetuating the highest ideals of citizenship in a democratic society. This fund supports programs and events throughout the year, including the Marshall Awards, Flag Day Celebration, Independence Day at Fort Vancouver, and the Veterans Parade.
This fund, created in memory of Steve Dearborn, a Marshall Award Recipient in 1991, was established as a tribute to Mr. Dearborn who was personally and professionally committed to encouraging youth in public service. Gifts to this fund support the General George C. Marshall Youth Leadership Award each year. It underwrites both a college and a summer internship at the Historic Reserve for the recipient.
The Fund assists in raising support for educational purposes and programs on the Fort Vancouver National Site. The uses and programs include, but are not limited to, volunteer projects, field schools, educational camps, educational institution transportation costs, immersion programs, adult lectures, tours and other educational programming for all ages. The goal of the Fund is to strengthen and support the educational programs offered by The Historic Trust, focusing on Pearson Field Education Center, Providence Academy, the West Barracks and Officers Row.
Historic Preservation Fund
The Fund assists in raising support for building and landscape restoration, renovation and reconstruction to facilitate adaptive re-use of the buildingsmaintained by the Trust. The goal of the Fund is to strengthen and support preserving, enhancing and operating the historic buildings and promoting their significance to the community.
Frank and Joanne Lough Legacy Fund
The designated purpose of the Lough Legacy Fund is to provide funding for the Veterans Day program and for the Pearson Field Education Center.
General Operations Fund
The Fund assists in raising support for the general operation and administration of the Trust. The uses include, but are not limited to, supporting the general overhead costs of the Trust, salaries of staff members, hiring of consultants or additional employees to carry out specific functions in support of the Trust’s mission. The goal of the Fund is to ensure that the Trust continues to operate at the highest and most efficient level in carrying out its mission.
The Fund assists in supporting the Trust’s mission as determined by the priorities and needs set forth by the Trust Board. Contributions to this fund have no designated purpose except to support the mission of the Trust.
